For the 2001 season the Arizona Diamondbacks had several changes to their minor league affiliates.  They did not renew their agreement with the Monterrey Sultans of the Mexican League meaning the Diamondbacks would have only one Triple-A afiliate.  The Advanced Class-A affiliate changed from High Desert to Lancaster.  The Diamondbacks began a new affiliation with Class-A Yakima of the Northwest team.  Finally the Diamondbacks did not field a team in the Arizona Rookie League as a result of the agreement signed with Yakima which ended their affiliation with the Tucson Diamondbacks.
