BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks were having another tough night offensively. They couldn't do a thing against Baltimore starter Erik Bedard and appeared headed for their fourth straight loss.

Then, after they chased Bedard in the eighth inning, the Diamondbacks quickly learned how fun it is to face the struggling Orioles bullpen.

Pinch-hitter Orlando Hudson homered with two on to cap a five-run eighth and Arizona handed the Orioles their season-high sixth straight defeat, 7-3 on Friday night.

Chris Snyder also homered in the eighth for the Diamondbacks, who started the inning trailing 3-0. After dispatching Bedard, Arizona completed the comeback against a bullpen that has provided very little return on the team's $42 million offseason investment.

"For us to come back in the fashion that we did -- especially the way we've been struggling offensively and the way the games have been going for us -- that's a huge win," Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said.

The last-place Orioles have lost 11 of 13. Manager Sam Perlozzo used four relievers, and three of them gave up runs. The exception was Jamie Walker, who faced only one batter.

"Three runs should have been enough tonight," said Perlozzo, adding that changes must be made in the bullpen if the Orioles are to snap out of their funk.

"We're going to need to do something. We can't keep going like this," he said.

Bedard took a four-hitter into the eighth but was replaced by Chad Bradford after yielding Snyder's homer and a single to Augie Ojeda, who was summoned from Triple-A Tucson earlier in the day.

Bedard's pitch count was 120.

"He was pitching a great game. I was kind of surprised they took him out," Ojeda said. "We were hoping to get to the 'pen."

That's exactly what happened, and the Diamondbacks got the desired result.

Bradford allowed a single to Eric Byrnes, and Walker got Stephen Drew to ground out before Todd Williams gave up a run-scoring grounder to Conor Jackson. Williams (0-2) then walked Mark Reynolds after getting ahead 0-2, and Hudson followed by driving a 1-1 pitch into the center-field seats.

"I wasn't supposed to be used tonight. Bob was going to give me a full day off, but the situation called on me," Hudson said. "I just wanted to put the ball in play. The baseball gods looked down on me a little bit."

It was Arizona's seventh pinch-hit homer of the season.

Ojeda punctuated the meltdown of Baltimore's bullpen with a two-run homer off Danys Baez in the ninth.

Doug Slaten (3-0) pitched the seventh for the Diamondbacks, who bounced back from a three-game sweep by the New York Yankees.

Bedard allowed two runs in seven-plus innings and struck out nine to take over the AL lead with 112. Although the left-hander has not given up more than three runs in any of his nine starts, he is 1-2 in that span.

The Orioles broke up a scoreless duel with a three-run sixth against Micah Owings. Brian Roberts drew a one-out walk and took second on a single by Melvin Mora before Nick Markakis hit an RBI double down the right-field line. Miguel Tejada followed with a sacrifice fly.

The lead held until Baltimore's bullpen got involved.

"It's not a good feeling to feel like you're doing everything you can to win a ballgame and it never happens," Perlozzo said. "What we have is just not working right now."

Both starters were perfect through three innings, and Bedard retired the first two batters in the fourth before Jackson doubled to left. Reynolds then singled to right, but Jackson was held at third by coach Chip Hale. Scott Hairston followed with a ground out.

In the bottom half, Roberts snapped an 0-for-17 skid with a single but was erased when Ojeda made a fine stop of a Markakis' sharp grounder to second and started a 4-6-3 double play.

Arizona placed left-hander Randy Johnson (muscle tightness) on the 15-day disabled list after the game. ... Baltimore's Aubrey Huff extended his hitting streak to 10 games. ... Arizona improved to 2-5 in interleague play.
