PHOENIX (AP) -- Jorge Sosa returned to the major leagues and pitched well enough that he may stick around for a while.

Sosa, recalled from Triple-A New Orleans earlier in the day, outpitched reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb and the New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 Saturday night for their 13th straight victory at Chase Field.

"I went down to Triple-A and kept working hard," Sosa said through an interpreter. "It was well deserved to be back here and I'm happy to be back in the major leagues."

Shawn Green homered and drove in three runs and Carlos Delgado was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored for the Mets, who won their fourth straight overall.

Sosa (1-0), who was sent to Triple-A after an uneven spring that included an 8.53 ERA, allowed two runs and four hits over 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out three before tiring in the seventh.

"It's always tough in spring training to get a full gauge of someone," said Mets manager Willie Randolph. "He struggled with his control at times and had a couple of bad outings but his arm looked strong. He went to Triple-A and got into a rhythm. Whatever he's doing, keep doing it."

Sosa, who entered the game 0-3 with a 6.65 ERA against Arizona, said he started throwing more offspeed pitches in the minors and continued the trend against the Diamondbacks.

Arizona manager Bob Melvin definitely noticed the difference.

"He was completely different," Melvin said. "If he threw 30 percent fastballs ... it just felt that way. He threw a lot of splits, changeups and whatever it was and we didn't make the adjustment."

Miguel Montero had a two-run, pinch-hit double for the Diamondbacks, who have lost five straight for the second time this season. Arizona has not beaten New York at home since May 11, 2004.

"It's been a crazy little streak but hopefully it will continue," Green said.

Delgado doubled to lead off the second against Webb (2-2) and scored when Green's high fly ball barely cleared the left-field fence for his fourth homer of the season.

"It's just a matter of time before he heats up," Randolph said of Delgado. "There's no secret to Carlos. When he gets good pitches to hit, he hits them."

The Mets added four more in the sixth. Webb walked Carlos Beltran and Delgado to start the inning and Paul LoDuca followed with a single that skipped past left fielder Scott Hairston and rolled to the wall, scoring both runners to make it 4-0.

LoDuca, who had advanced to third on the two-base error, scored on Green's single up the middle to put the Mets ahead 5-0. Green later stole second, went to third on a grounder and scored on Endy Chavez's sacrifice fly to center.

Hairston hit a one-out double in the seventh and Sosa walked Chris Young before giving way to Joe Smith. Smith retired Chris Snyder on a grounder to second but Montero doubled to the left-field wall, driving in Hairston and Young.

Webb allowed six runs -- five earned -- and six hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

"I was trying to get ahead and keep it on the plate but it just wasn't happening," Webb said.
